// Analysis of causes and effects for failure in ammonia compressor.
Abstract

Abstract
In this paper, the causes of damage taken place in an ammonia refrigerating compressor are analyzed. Concepts of Linear
Elastic Fracture Mechanics and Subcrítical Fracture Mechanics are applied to analyze the appearance and propagation
conditions of cracks that caused the wall damage in the cooling water camera.
Key words: Refrigerating compressor, linear elastic fracture mechanics, subcritical fracture mechanics.
