Análisis de la innovación en las empresas manufactureras mediante un enfoque multicriterio//Analysis of innovation in manufacturing companies through a multicriteria approach
Abstract

Abstract
Although R&D plays a crucial role in the innovation process, and R&D expenditures are the most widely used input measure to assess the level of innovation of companies, other variables or factors may be equally interesting. In this paper the multicriteria AHP methodology is used to carry out a hierarchical organization and weighting of these criteria in order to be able to measure the innovation level of the companies. Thanks to this methodology, it has been possible to obtain a unique index through which comparative analyzes of companies from different industrial sectors have been carried out, identifying the most innovative sectors and comparing the results with usual output measures of the innovation, such as number of patents, number of processes and innovations in the products. The study was carried out on a sample of 1869 Spanish industrial companies.
Key words: R&D, innovation, multicriteria, AHP
