Protección de la tubería principal contra la corrosión en áreas complejas // Protection of the main pipeline against corrosion on complex plots
Abstract

Abstract
Corrosion damage in buried underground pipelines often occurs in the ground-to-air transition areas causing serious problems during operation. The objective of this paper is to determine the effect of heterogeneous coatings on the corrosion rate in the parts of the soil-air transitions in the main pipelines. Standard methods were used to measure the electrochemical values: pH of the medium and difference of electrode potential in different areas of the metal surface. The tube samples used in the tests were prepared with different anticorrosive coatings. In this work it is demonstrated how the application of the insulation with heterogeneous materials leads to a high speed of the corrosion of the metal of the pipe in the transition zone, however, the use of a uniform coating can reduce the loss of metal by 20% due to a decrease in the depth of the ulcers.
Key words: main pipeline, corrosion, differential aeration, protective coating
