Evaluación del desempeño de una cocina solar construida con materiales reciclados // Evaluation of the performance of a solar cooker built with recycled materials
Abstract
Abstract
The article evaluates the thermal performance of a box-type solar stove constructed with recycled materials. It is based on a standard procedure that evaluates the thermal performance of the constructed solar kitchen. The experimental tests were developed under the climate of Santiago de Cuba during September 2021. The solar cooking unit reached a maximum temperature of 87,2 ºC with efficiency values of 74.4 %. The results obtained were compared with two different types of solar stoves, panel type and parabolic type, according to previous studies. The economic analysis complements the study and showed that the constructed solar cooking unit allows an estimated saving of more than 150 kg of coal or 60 kg of LPG, depending on the fuel used to cook the food, contributing to the protection of the environment.
Key words: solar energy; solar cookers; thermal performance; economic analysis
