Evaluación de probetas cilíndricas solicitadas a torsión cíclica simétrica//Evaluation of cylindrical specimens subjected bytorsional symmetrical load cycles
Abstract

Abstract
The fatigue of engineering materials has been for many years a topic of interest for engineers and researchers. In this work the characteristics of a torsional machine testing for fatigue tests of specimens under symmetric cyclic torsion are showed. The results of the specimens with and without pre-notch tested on the machine are also shown. The machine principle of operation was exposed. The application of the symmetrical cyclic torque was achieved by a three-bar mechanism that convert the motor rotation movement in an alternative angular displacement in the mobile headstock. The tested specimens presented the typical behavior of the fatigue failure. It was shown that the machine allows to perform the symmetric cyclic torsion tests.
