Abstract

Identifying critical assets is crucial for effective maintenance management. The scientific literature offers various methods, models, and criteria to evaluate asset criticality and importance. This research aims to systematically review the scientific literature on criticality analysis models and methods, providing an updated and reliable guide on relevant criteria to consider in such analyses. The study addresses key questions, including: What models and methods have been proposed for asset criticality evaluation? Which criteria are frequently discussed in the literature? Which criteria offer the most significant insights for evaluating industrial assets? Additionally, the research introduces a conceptual approach to complexity analysis and develops a matrix that compares the importance and feasibility of the criteria found in the literature. This matrix highlights the most relevant criteria for assessing the criticality of industrial assets.
