Abstract

The human gait pattern can be studied and established because there are similar characteristics between one person and another, despite each one has a particular gait pattern. The objective of this research was to determine the normal gait pattern in Cuban subjects. A preliminary normal gait pattern was obtained using the Gait Laboratory at the Julio Díaz Rehabilitation Hospital and the Vicon Nexus and Vicon Polygon softwares for data processing. The gait parameters of the obtained pattern were analyzed and compared with the reference pattern available at the Laboratory, which is characteristic of the population of another country. A high similarity was evident between the two patterns, despite certain differences. The feasibility of the protocol established for determining gait patterns in the Julio Díaz Hospital Laboratory was demonstrated, allowing for more accurate diagnoses that enable rehabilitation and therapy more tailored to the condition and motor skills of Cuban patients.
